Can GLP-1 & Ozempic Really Help in Weight Loss?

How to loose fat

(Expert Views from Dr. Saptarshi Bhattacharya and Early Fit Co-Founder Parth)

Losing weight is hard, no matter how many diets or workouts you try.
If you’ve been scrolling social media lately, you’ve probably seen people talking about Ozempic, GLP-1 injections, and magical weight-loss results.
But can these medicines really help you lose fat safely?
To clear all confusion, we spoke to Dr. Saptarshi Bhattacharya, one of India’s top endocrinologists, and Parth, co-founder of the health-tech platform Early Fit.

Here’s what they shared on our podcast, in simple words 👇

GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) is a natural hormone made by your gut every time you eat.
It tells your brain, “Hey, you’re full now, stop eating.”

People who are overweight or have obesity often have a delay in this signal, so they don’t feel full quickly and end up overeating.

That’s where GLP-1 medications like Ozempic (Semaglutide) or Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) come in.
They mimic this natural hormone and send the fullness signal to your brain faster, helping you eat less, feel satisfied, and lose fat steadily.

According to Dr. Saptarshi:

“GLP-1 injections don’t burn fat directly. They reduce your hunger, improve blood sugar control, and slowly help your body reach a healthier weight.”

So, instead of starving or cutting carbs completely, these medicines help your body control appetite naturally.

Clinical trials show people can lose 15–25% of their body weight within 6–12 months when they combine the medicine with a balanced diet and activity.

You might have seen ads for “GLP-1 tea,” “GLP-1 gummies,” or “herbal GLP-1 drops.”
Let’s be real — those are not real GLP-1 products.

Dr. Saptarshi was very clear:

“GLP-1 is a protein hormone. You cannot drink or swallow it in a tea or capsule, your stomach will digest it. Only injections or high-tech tablets like Rybelsus actually work.”

So if someone is selling “GLP-1 gummies” for ₹2000 claiming you’ll lose 10 kg in a month, ❌ it’s a scam.
Always consult a real doctor before trusting any shortcut online.

Parth from Early Fit explained how these medicines are priced:

TypeAverage Cost (per month)
Starting Dose₹12,000–₹14,000
Full Dose (Maintenance)₹25,000–₹27,000
3-Month Doctor-Supervised Program (Early Fit)₹49,000 total

These numbers may sound high, but in Western countries, the same treatment costs ₹1–2 lakh a month!
In India, Early Fit has made it more affordable with full medical support, regular check-ups, and lifestyle tracking in their app.

Parth says:

“We don’t just give injections, we give a complete plan. Doctor consultations, blood tests, nutrition tracking, and fitness guidance, all in one app.”

Early Fit’s program is designed for people who have:

  • Obesity or overweight issues
  • PCOS, pre-diabetes, or fatty liver
  • Difficulty losing fat despite diet and exercise

They combine science + technology + doctor supervision to make the journey safe and result-oriented.

Yes, like any medicine, GLP-1 injections can have mild side effects:

  • Nausea
  • Acidity or bloating
  • Constipation
  • Occasionally, fatigue

But according to Dr. Saptarshi, these effects are temporary and can be managed easily if the dose is increased slowly and under medical supervision.

Only about 5–7% of people stop treatment because of side effects.

One of the most common questions:
“Will I gain the weight back after stopping Ozempic?”

Dr. Saptarshi explains:

“Some people may regain 5–10 kg if they go back to old eating habits.
But if you’ve built a healthy lifestyle while on GLP-1, you can maintain your new weight easily.”

So remember: the medicine helps you start the journey, but your lifestyle keeps the results alive.

There’s still a lot of judgment around people taking weight-loss injections.
Many think it’s a “shortcut” — but Parth puts it beautifully:

“If we can take insulin for diabetes or BP pills for hypertension, why can’t we treat obesity medically?
Obesity is a hormonal and metabolic disorder, not a lack of willpower.”

Using GLP-1 medicines with the right guidance is not cheating, it’s choosing health over struggle.

  • GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Mounjaro are scientifically proven to help with fat loss and metabolic health.
  • GLP-1 tea, gummies, or supplements are fake — don’t waste your money.
  • The safest way to use GLP-1 is under a doctor’s care, through trusted programs like Early Fit.
  • Combine medicine with healthy eating, exercise, and sleep for lasting results.
  • Treat weight loss as part of your health journey — not just a cosmetic goal.

If you’ve struggled to lose fat and feel stuck, GLP-1 medicines might be the tool that finally helps, but only when guided by a professional.
As Dr. Saptarshi says,

“This is not magic — it’s science. And science works when you use it right.”
